Covid-19 Update

Based on the First Minister’s statement on Thursday 28/05/20 regarding moving to Phase 1, we can confirm that the Fife Council Harbours & Piers will fully re-open from Friday 29/05/20. We would note that the Harbours Team are working hard to prepare the Harbours & Piers for the re-opening (including new risk assessments, new procedures, new signage, etc.) and we would ask that you bear with us during this time, and if you see anything in regard to Coronavirus mitigation measures that you think needs addressed we would ask you to report that directly to the Harbour Master (details below) or via the Harbours@fife.gov.uk email address and we will review it as soon as possible and endeavour to make any necessary changes required.

We would ask all boat owners using the Harbours & Piers to observe national social distancing guidelines at all times. Those going out on their boats should observe the Phase 1 restrictions set out by the Scottish Government in terms of who you go boating with and how far you are travelling to go boating.

We would note that due to the ongoing restrictions the Harbour Offices will remain closed to boat owners and the public with barriers placed across the entrances, however if you knock on the door and stand back the Harbour Master will answer.

We would also note that a number of new signs relating to social distancing and hand washing will be going up at the Harbours & Piers in the coming days, and we would ask you to observe the guidance given on these signs.

We would note that craning operations will now be permitted again at the Harbours & Piers, but these can only take place with specific lift plans, certified lifting equipment, insurances, trained personnel, etc. in place and approved by the Harbours Team and with the Harbour Master in attendance. If you wish to undertake a craning operation please contact the Harbour Master (details below) or Harbours@fife.gov.uk email address to discuss the new requirements for craning at the Harbours & Piers.

For those of you at Anstruther Harbour, we would advise you that the Harbours Team are working closely with the Incident Management Team in the Council to get permission for the dredging work to re-start and we will update you as soon as we can.

Above all we wish to welcome you back and hope you enjoy your time on the water during the remainder of 2020.
